MOTOR is a research-based design studio, interested in
exploring the interstices and interactions between the fields of
architecture, visual arts, and neuroscience.
The studio was founded in 2020 by Giulia Rapizza and Edoardo Mancini.
MOTOR comes from the latin word ‘movere’, referred as a propulsive force or a person or device generating movement.
MOTOR is interested in small-scale mechanics such as brain dynamics, the insterstices between reality and metaphysics, evocative places and the emotional essence of ‘space’. These ideas materialize through research projects, temporary installations, reuse and refurbishment of existing buildings, exhibition and furniture design. The office blends professional practice to academic researches, to design significant aesthetics experiences based on functional relationships between the body-mind system and the physicalimaginary environment in which they take place. This website is continuously evolving, displaying the office’s works as well as abstract concepts or inspirations.
