MIND THE GAP
SPAZIO

In 2022 Edoardo Mancini was commissioned to craft the exhibition furniture for the 6th edition of Mind the Gap, Spazio, a visual contemporary art project hosted by Spazio35/Visionario in Udine.

The theme of this edition focused on space by questioning its conventional role as a mere physical container wherein events are shaped. In the works of the invited artists – Sofia Caesar, Danilo Correale, Karolina Engman Bergman and Flavia Tritto – space becomes a repository of memory activated by a system of objects, thus working as a record of events, as the manifestation of inner motions and deep questions of identity, and as a metaphor for social and cultural changes, as well as the catalyst for political and economic transformations on various territorial scales.

Three different devices were designed for this occasion.
The installation Cleanrooms by Danilo Correale consists of five audiocassettes placed on a round table, where visitors could sit and listen via headphones to ‘sound portraits’ evoking the vacant spaces left behind during the pandemics. The installation Workation by Sofia Caesar is a four-channel video installation displayed on a sun-yellow carpet, reminescent of an office floor yet imbued with an unusual set up and hue. Finally, Flavia Tritto’s En apesanteur is a continuous video loop.
