AROUND THE FIRE
Around the Fire is a furniture duo: two tables, one made of iron, one crafted in wood. The former is heavy and stable, the latter runs on wheels. So different in character and texture, they share the circular shape. As a geometric form the circle means perfection and cyclicity. yet, paradoxically, it is also instability and perpetual motion.
Talking about the circle Bruno Munari refers to King Arthur's knights, who gathered around a round table, symbolizing equality and unity. Today, the act of convening in a circle persists as a symbol of democratic decision-making and communal engagement, whether in deliberative gatherings or immersive theatrical performances.
Sitting together implies a bodily feeling of WARMTH which is both, the quality state of moderate heat coming from being close to other warm bodies, and the enthusiasm and affection of the act of sharing something, Physically, to sit down, the human body shows decreasing muscle activities, gradual closure of the skeletal, and a small increase of the touch pressure and temperature, depending on the texture and material of the surface.
